The Sweet Spot by Amy Poeppel is a fun NYC book, it takes place in Greenwich Village with plenty of scenes in Washington Sq Park. As a former New Yorker, I love how this book brought me back to the City!
I also loved Kate Goldbeck's You, Again. Ironically, I read it on the plane on the way to Boston last fall (not on purpose). I fell in love with the very fall-y 🍂 cover, and definitely enjoyed every bit of it!
I agree, Edith Wharton is THE prime author for Old New York, I can't wait to check out her other New York novels - The Age of Innocence was an immediate favorite & the film was actually well done!
SUMMER FRIDAYS was VERY New Yorky! I enjoyed it a lot of that.
I need to read that one before the summer ends! The copy I bought is just languishing on my shelves, haha.
another vote for Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk ... and agree with Torrie - we are long overdue for another Cara Wall novel.
I wonder if she's a very slow writer? I feel like the Dearly Beloved was successful enough that she should have gotten another deal!

Have you read Limelight by her as well? Also very New York-y and you can tell how much she loves and how well she knows the city
I haven’t read any other of her books but I’ll add it to my TBR!
Lovely list, Natalie! The Dearly Beloved is a favorite of mine. I was hoping we’d get another one from Cara Wall by now.
It has to come eventually! I just love her writing style so much.
Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk is a great NY novel and Just Kids by Patti Smith for a memoir.
Adding both of those to my TBR!

I'd also really recommend The House of Mirth! Still need to get to The Custom of the Country.
Thank you!
That's my next Edith Wharton read, it's in front of me right now actually!
