I also need to read On Beauty and something from the Gilead set. Sometimes when book prizes include titles I disliked I get a little wary (ahem Ministry of Magic) but you've reminded me that there are still great options on the list
I also enjoy the Women's Prize and have found several personal favorites from it over the years - including the one I believe you're referring to, narrated by a tree! :-) I'm thrilled they added the nonfiction prize last year as well. Have you looked into the Carol Shields prize at all? I'm newer to that one but am finding it very intriguing as well!
I’ve really been enjoying the Women’s Prize selections I’ve read in the last few years, too! I like their mix of literary and more commercial, it feels like there is something for any reader on it! Also, new Below Deck!?! This is great news.
The Women’s Prize is the one prize that really aligns with my reading taste - I spent time one day going through all the long lists and though there were many books I haven’t read yet the ones I had were predominantly five-star reads for me. I have a (very loose) goal of eventually reading through all the shortlists and winners. Will look forward to hearing your thoughts on the ones you pick up from this year’s list and past winners!
The long lists are all over the place for me, but I’ve loved every single winner I’ve read. Small Island is fantastic. I think you’d also enjoy Rose Tremain’s The Road Home (Tremain reminds me of Sarah Winman - high praise!) and Linda Grant’s When We Lived in Modern Times (a young English woman immigrates to Tel Aviv just after WWII).

I read On Beauty earlier this month and really enjoyed it! So smart and witty.

I haven't but I've been meaning to. I'm especially intrigued by some of the Canadian fiction the prize highlights!

It's set in the Seychelles and there's some gorgeous underwater shots! Plus I like most of the crew so far.

Same, I always have the most success with the Women's Prize lists! And love that goal!

Ooh, those both sound great! I might have to add them to my next Blackwell's order.
Thank you! There's a lot of great reads on the Women's Prize lists!
