I wanted to love Bet Me because the banter was soooo snappy and fun. But the fixation on weight was so tough (though it definitely helped set the novel in the early 2000s…..!).

It is very early 2000s! I think if the book had been first person single, it would have been really tough for me but having the dual POV and Cal consistently thinking about how gorgeous Min was and how much he was drawn to her balanced out my reading experience.

I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed The Artist! I started it and then decided to set it aside for an upcoming weekend away so I can really sink into it.

I think it would be a great read-in-a-day vacation book!

I’ve been going back and forth on whether I’ll like Hungerstone but you’ve convinced me. Also I’ve committed to reading the first two Kitamura before getting to Audition but I’ve heard nothing but raves. Did you read A Separation or Intimacies first?

No, but I want to go back and read them now! And I definitely think you should check Hungerstone out.

Harrow the Ninth is ~genius~ and I'm high-key excited for you to continue the journey in Nona the Ninth.

What Happens in Amsterdam caught my eye today, I am intrigued at the possibility of "re-visiting" a travel destination through reading, and it did remind me of a great episode of Ted Lasso.

I picked up A Dark and Drowning Tide bu Alison Saft today at Lovestruck Books. Have you read this queer fantasy romance yet, or could it possibly make your June pick?

I cannot wait for Muir to blow my mind once again. And I read it back in the fall and really liked it! Definitely a prickly heroine (who I loved, haha) and the exact right blend of enchantment and danger.

Dreaming of You isn’t my favorite LK either and I’m surprised it’s considered by many to be one of her best works. If you haven’t read it yet, I much preferred Suddenly You, a standalone by her, along with of course the beloved wallflowers, hathaways and ravenel series. My absolutely favorites are Marrying Winterbourne and Devil in Winter.

I haven't read Suddenly You but definitely adding that to my list! I loved the Wallflowers, Hathaways, and the Ravenel series--the Wallflowers and Hathaways were foundational historical romances for me.

Jennifer Crusie! I had six weeks of short-term disability back in 2002 and binged so many of her books. It was one of the highlights (along with HGTV and British DIY shows) of that season ... and I have only the fondest memories of those books. I've considered revisiting her a few times, and never did; I figured my memories were fine as is!
