I love peonies as well-- I always hope I can have a bouquet for my birthday (5/19) and it's like the official kick-off of summer. I really loved reading Monsters last year and still think about it all the time!
You do such a great job with your reviews! I’ll be interested to hear what you say about Funny Story. It was an enjoyable read— I would give it 4/5 stars whereas Beach Read was a 5 star for me. I read 7 books in May but no 5 star ones. I will be checking out your May favorites in search of an excellent read.
Thank you! More to come, but I actually enjoyed Funny Story more than Beach Read. It's definitely Henry's tropiest book, which I really liked, but may not be as enjoyable for readers who were really drawn to that heavier plot in Beach Read.
Maybe I like angsty plots more than I thought I did! I’ve read most of Jasmine Guillory romances and a couple of them didn’t have enough conflict to be interesting.
I loved Howard’s End in May and put A Room with a View on my June list (along with Sex and Vanity). I also seem to be reading books set in India and might need to read A Passage to India, too.
Hit Man is on my watchlist, it looks so good! And omg you read so many books!! I want to read Brideshead soon but I am just drowning in books I’ve started already & books I own and want to start (not to mention those I don’t want to start quite yet)!
I picked it up on a friend's recommendation and was so delighted to discover it! I'm enjoying the romantic fantasy resurgence a lot but my tastes definitely lean a lot more towards towards Regency and gaslamp fantasy.
Wow it's been ages since I read Sophie Kinsella!!! She's perfect for summer no doubt!

Yes! I also have a summer birthday and love getting myself a birthday bunch--they're a perfect little luxury.

A Forster flight for summer sounds so lovely! I really want to get to Howard's End after enjoying A Room with a View so much.

And I agree, I enjoyed Bridgerton S3 so much and I really really want part 2 right now
I'm preemptively mad that it's going to be on Netflix and not the movie theater movie of the summer, haha.
Making tea and reading in a hotel room while traveling solo sounds like such a dream!
Thanks for all of these recommendations. Super excited about Half a Soul!

Hope you enjoy it--I think it'd be such a good classic for summer!
