We share quite a few favorites, most notably how to end a love story and good material. Also everyone has James on their favorites this past year so it might show up in mine next year as I put a hold on it. I think I hesitated because I never read the work it’s based on, and I don’t even know anything about it (didn’t grow up in the US so it was not a required reading).
I definitely think you don't need to have read Huck Finn to enjoy and get a lot out of James! Sara at FictionMatters also did a post last year with a primer for Huck Finn before reading James that was a great resource.
