I loved reading this, Natalie! I started jotting down the 'why' last year when I was using a physical reading journal and fell off the habit. You've reminded me that it's a really helpful practice to revisit. I also saw Black Bag in the theatres recently and it was such a fun, stylish popcorn flick. Loved it more than I expected!
I've found it so useful when it comes to tracking patterns in my reading and when it comes to whose recommendations I need to be picking up sooner...and I'm very here for more stylish 90-minute movies!
I love this! I've begun making similar notations, especially when I can recall a specific recommendation. I think I may need to start making notes when I add a book to my TBR. It's so sprawling I often forget why books ended up there in the first place.
I also enjoyed Black Bag and loved Cate’s wardrobe! Amazon currently has Kindle version of This Rough Magic for only 99 cents. I purchased it as my local library seems to have deaccessioned much of their Mary Stewart collection. They used to have most of her novels and now only have a handful. 😪
You have to snap them up while you can! Blackwells also has some very nice paperback editions if you ever order from them--that's where my copy of This Rough Magic came from.

I love that idea! I too have found books on my shelves with no idea how they got there.
